We arrived at the train station in Bellinzona and we were greeted with this long nosed train. Alas, it was not ours. We boarded an ordinary train and found our reserved seats...come to find out, we had the whole car to ourselves. We got off the train at Flüelen and had lunch while we waited for the lake boat to arrive.
The turquoise waters of Lake Lucerne, and the tall mountains, give Flüelen a pretty setting.
a funky "horn" and a
cement car were a few of sites to see.
Our lake boat arrived on time for a 2 hour and 47 minute cruise on the Lake (we are in Switzerland again where things "run on time"). We made several stops along the way, picking up passengers until the boat was filled to the brim. Someone said that there were 1000 folks on our boat. If there weren't, it felt like it as it was getting hotter by the minute.
We envied the kids swimming in the lake.
Even the folks in the canoe were cooler than we were!
and vacation spots
lush valleys,
There were churches high up in the hills, as well as
at water level. About, 90 minutes into our boat ride, it became to too hazy to take pictures.
That's the last picture I took today. I had to enhance it a lot to get rid of the "steam" like humidity that was clouding the scene. We landed in Lucerne and made our way to a hotel close to the rail station and the docks. We do not have air conditioning in the room, but we do have 2 fans which are some help. It's supposed to be hot tomorrow too!
